Your Ultimate Fall Bucket List on a Budget

Sure summer is over, but that only means the best season of the year is here… FALL!

Fall is the time when pumpkin spice is everywhere and the smell of apple-baked treats fills the air. From family-fun outdoor adventures to cozying up inside, we’ve put together a list of activities that don’t have to break your budget. How many of these Fall festivities will you check off your bucket list?

Visit a Pumpkin Patch

A symbol of the season, it wouldn’t be Fall without picking out some perfectly round and plump pumpkins from your local patch. Of course, you don’t have to stick to the traditional orange option, most patches grow unique white pumpkins and funky looking gourds you can take home as well. However, the patch is only half the fun, because the real excitement starts at home. Make an afternoon out of jack-o-lantern carving your best spooky faces, then cook up the leftover seeds for an end of the day snack.

Throw an At-Home Football Tailgate Party

A great way to spend some quality time with friends and family this Fall is to throw an at-home tailgate party. All you need are some backyard games, delicious food to cook up, and a TV to watch the game on. This almost guarantees your guest will be satisfied. Have each guest bring their favorite snack or dish so that way the cost of food is split evenly instead of falling on one person. Then cozy up inside wearing your favorite team gear. (Ahem, GO BILLS!)

Take a Hike Through the Fall Foliage

Many people would argue that the beautiful foliage of Upstate New York is a picture perfect backdrop worth envying. With plenty of naturalistic escapes right in our backyard, Fall is the perfect time to get out into the crisp air and discover your ideal hiking trail. Fun for the whole family, everyone is sure to enjoy the cascades of red, yellow, and orange leaves falling around their feet. If walking isn’t really your speed, no problem there’s plenty of trails that welcome bikers and even horseback riders!

Visit a Museum

As the weather starts to cool down, you may find yourself searching for the perfect indoor Fall activity. Whether you prefer history, science, or art, check out some of your local museums and take a stroll through the different exhibits they offer. Stay budget friendly by keeping an eye out for special promotions like free museum days. This year, Smithsonian Magazine sponsored a free admission day, in which over 1000 museums participated. You can also watch for smaller promotions including certain days of the week when kids attend for free.

Screen Your Very Own Halloween Movie Marathon

Fall is bound to get a little spooky so why not have some fun with it? Invite a group of friends over or sit your family down in the living room for some seasonal autumn classics that are sure to get everyone in the holiday spirit. Settle in with a bowl of buttery popcorn and sweet, chocolatey candy. And don’t forget the blanket to pull over your eyes during those jump scares. Making a movie night at home brings all the excitement of the theater without the hefty ticket and snack prices.

Make Your Fall Greater!

Fall comes quick and seems to leave even quicker. However, by checking each of these activities off of your budget bucket list you can make the most of the season, while making the season work for your money goals.
