Have you recently heard about our Visa balance transfer service and now you’re wondering what exactly that entails? Have you never heard about our Visa balance transfer service but are unsure what a balance transfer even is? Well, we’re here to answer those questions and more.

What is a credit card balance transfer?

A credit card balance transfer consists of moving funds from one credit card account to a new card, typically in order to transfer over outstanding debt. Generally, these promotions offer consumers significantly lower interest rates, waived transfer fees, and better benefits like ScoreCard® Rewards points and cash back on everyday purchases.

Through February 2023, Greater Niagara FCU is offering our own Visa Balance Transfer promotion with rates as low as 5.99% APR.

What are the benefits of transferring credit card balances?

Maybe you want to pay off outstanding credit card balances faster with lower fees and interest rates, or perhaps you’d just prefer to spend on a card with greater rewards and discounts. Whatever reason you choose to complete a balance transfer, the benefits of applying for a Greater Niagara FCU Visa credit card are greater as Members can take advantage of:

  • Zero annual fees.
  • No added cost for cash advances or balance transfers.
  • Increased perks and rewards, like ScoreCard® rewards* and exclusive member discounts.

So, what are ScoreCard Rewards?

Receiving ScoreCard® Rewards through your GNFCU Visa credit card is simple, easy, and provides the opportunity to redeem points for great merchandise and travel awards. Every dollar spent is equal to one point earned, it’s that simple!

How does transferring my balances work?

  1. Become a Member: Join the Greater Niagara Federal Credit Union, and instantly have access to this opportunity.
  2. Transfer Your Balances: Work with a Greater Niagara FCU representative to transfer outstanding credit card balances to one, new Visa credit card.
  3. Make One Payment Per Month: With all of your balances transferred to one card, you can make one easy monthly payment (with a low-interest rate as low as 5.99% APR) with Greater Niagara FCU.

Can a Balance Transfer help me improve my credit score?

Yes, strategically using a balance transfer to move multiple debts to a single credit card can decrease your overall credit utilization rate. The lower your percentage of available credit the better, as it presents lenders with a low rate, showing them you’re not taking on large amounts of debt you can’t repay.
